Arkhangelsk
Location: Arkhangelsk, Russia
Year: 2020
Arkhangelsk is a city with a population of about 350 thousand people located in the north of the European part of Russia (under the north pole), at the mouth of the Northern Dvina River, 35 kilometers far from its confluence with the White Sea. It is the administrative centre of Arkhangelsk Oblast and the largest city of the Russian North.
Founded in 1584, Arkhangelsk is traditionally considered the capital of Pomor’e – an original region located on the southern coast of the White Sea.
The Building of Design Organizations is a 24-floors building on Lenin Square built in 1983. Its 85 meters make it the tallest building in the city.
In the first half of 2020 the city has begun a process of renovation of the public lights, changing from HPS to LED technology. Spacecannon has taken part to this process and in particular has been entrusted with the task of developing a customized device capable of lighting the iconic “Building of Design Organizations” from top to bottom. Spacecannon could develop a special version of the TOWER, the first searchlight with LED technology, named “TOWER7” generating roughly 9000lm of 4000K white light collimated at 2°. The whole installation is perfectly controlled with DMX protocol + RDM for the addressing thanks to the Clever Light system that allows the client to switch on and off the searchlights and control them individually in order to generate lighting effects in the cold polar night.
